ANNOUNCEMENTS

Appointment of Diocesan Financial Controller – Effective July 1st

I am pleased to announce that Lawrence Roche has accepted my offer of appointment as our next Diocesan Financial Controller, effective July 1st, 2023. Lawrence has 35 years experience as a licensed Chartered Professional Accountant in Nova Scotia. He holds Bachelor of Commerce and Master of Business Administration degrees from Saint Marys University, and a Master of Arts degree from the Atlantic School of Theology.

Lawrence has significant accounting and financial reporting experience, primarily with non-profit organizations and small businesses. He is coming to us from his accounting practice, G&R Chartered Professional Accountants. Lawrence has also put his accounting skills to use in the service of others as Treasurer for many non-profit organizations, including the Rainbow Refugee Association of Nova Scotia, the Atlantic School of Theology, Port Wallis United Church, and the LGBT Youth Project.

Lawrence is a collaborative leader who works well with others. He is a good listener, has a positive attitude, and is a thoughtful and clear communicator. He is skilled in working with a variety of people, regardless of their financial or accounting background or ability, and in communicating complicated financial information in ways that can be easily understood.

Resident in Nova Scotia, Lawrence understands some of the many opportunities and challenges facing the Church as we emerge from the Covid pandemic. He has an appreciation and awareness of the transformative impact the Church and faith can have on peoples lives. Lawrence looks forward to offering his skills as part of our Diocesan team as we work with clergy and lay leaders across Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island to build Christ-centred, mission-minded, ministering communities of faith. Please join me in welcoming Lawrence as our new Financial Controller.
