Covid - 19 Update

Covid - 19 Update

February 2nd, 2022

Nova Scotia -  No changes have been made to protocols for parishes in Nova Scotia since the last update on January 27th, 2022 which can be found here. We anticipate an update on Monday, February 14, 2022.

Prince Edward Island

The Public Health Office of PEI is now allowing congregational singing (while wearing masks) during faith gatherings. While it is permissible on Prince Edward Island to remove masks while leading worship (as a presider, reader, intercessor or soloist) as long as physical distancing of 6’ from the congregation or other worship leaders can be maintained, we strongly recommend that masks continue to be worn at all times. Please note that masks must be worn at all times for others attending faith gatherings (other than at the receiving of holy communion).

Thank you for sharing in this important work, loving our neighbours and keeping us all safe!

If you have questions or concerns, please contact our Executive Director, Rev’d Ann Turner, at excutivedirector@nspeidiocese.ca, 902-420-0717, ext. 1167.

CEWS News

CEWS News

Folks, thank you for continuing to record and send your parish’s monthly income for calculating wage subsidies.  Subsidies for organizations hard hit by the pandemic will continue at least through April 2022.  I expect the Diocese will continue to qualify, so please continue to send information to my attention at financialcontroller@nspeidiocese.ca.  For ease of processing revenue information, please use the attached form and return to me via email, and please title your email “CEWS.”  I drew-down subsidies from Canada Revenue this month.  Please expect to see them applied to January 2022 remittance advices in February 2022.

Thanks much for your help, Chris.

So many of our parishioners and community members are suffering with isolation and loneliness right now. Making caring calls can make all the difference and brighten someone's day!

WATCH this YouTube recording from our Jan. 26th. Zoom gathering and learn about some best practices related to phone ministry. Rev. Bonnie Baird, Associate Priest at Christ Church, Dartmouth, shares practical insights, real-life examples and her passion for visiting with people over the phone. You'll be inspired and encouraged by her presentation.

We maxed out at 100 participants (mostly lay people). Watch for more exciting 1-hour Zoom gatherings, hosted by the Creating Missional Communities Team (VSST).    (NOTE: It starts a little green, but clears up quickly.)

Freedom Sunday

The Anglican Church of Canada has designated February 20, 2022 as Freedom Sunday - an opportunity to learn about human trafficking and slavery in Canada today.

We will be marking this day with a service on Zoom at 7 pm. It is being planned with youth in mind, but all are encouraged to participate. Find more information and get the zoom link here.

Youth at Synod Information Session

Don't forget about our Youth at Synod Information Session, coming up on February 9 from 7 to 830 pm!

Synod youth delegates must be between the ages of 16 and 25, and every parish can send one. We hope to see as many as possible at our diocesan synod later this year, and want to make sure you've got all the information you need to make that happen. We'll talk about what synod is, what it means to be a delegate, how to get elected, and what we will be offering for youth - and there will be lots of time for questions! And - just for showing up to the info session you will have a chance to win one of two $25 gift cards (winners will get to choose from a list of options).

Sign up for the info session here or get in touch with Allie (acolp@nspeidiocese.ca) if you have any questions.
