THE BISHOP'S OFFICE

THE BISHOP'S OFFICE

Schedule

Monday, June 23 to Sunday June 29 - General Synod, London Ontario – Theme: They Will Soar on Wings like Eagles

Monday June 30 – Day Off

Tuesday July 1 – Canada Day Holiday

Wednesday July 2 – Travel Day

Bishop Sandra will be on vacation from Thursday July 3 to Tuesday July 29.

Announcements

Bishop Sandra is pleased to announce the appointments of:

* The Rev’d Dr. Dawn Leger as Priest-in-Charge for the Parish of Emmanuel Spryfield, effective July 1 - SEptember 15, 2025.

* The Rev’d Dr. Dawn Davis as Architect for Emerging Leadership (half-time), effective July 1, 2025 – September 30, 2026. This position is the result of several conversations with postulants and emerging leaders in our Diocese, and our staff as we seek to adapt to the changing landscape of the ministry environment and the impact that has on discernment, formation, and equipping for leadership. In this role, Dawn will lead the creation of individualized, holistic formation journeys for discerners and postulants that integrate academic learning, spiritual development, leadership skills, and practical ministry experience. Rooted in innovation and collaboration, this position seeks to equip leaders who are spiritually grounded, missionally focused, and prepared to guide the Church through transformational change.

Dawn Davis was ordained in the Diocese of NS and PEI nearly 37 years ago and served parishes in both provinces before leaving for the dioceses of Toronto, Niagara, and Huron. She earned a professional human resources certification, specializing in training and development, and a doctorate in ministry in spiritual formation. She currently serves as adjunct Professor of Contextual Learning at Huron Faculty of Theology and recently co-edited a book with the late Matthew Floding titled Experience: Spiritual Formation in Theological Education. Dawn is the creator of the international program Revive: Equipping Lay Leaders to be Spiritual Leaders, a video-based discipleship program. She serves as an honorary assistant at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London, Ontario as the faith formation director.

We are excited to be welcoming Dawn back to her home diocese. In accepting this appointment, she noted: “I am honoured to have the opportunity to give back to my home diocese by helping discerners and postulants for lay and ordained leadership fulfil their vocational potential and calling.”

This position is the result of several conversations with postulants and emerging leaders in our Diocese, and our staff as we seek to adapt to the changing landscape of the ministry environment and the impact that has on discernment, formation and equipping for both lay and ordained leadership.

The Anglican Foundation of Canada (AFC) is inviting Anglicans across Canada to establish or expand community ministry partnerships in this year’s Request for Proposals (RFP). Having funded hundreds of community ministry projects across Canada, AFC knows what it takes to build successful partnerships in priority impact areas, such as food security, social justice, leadership and education, arts enrichment, and more. Anglicans Powering Potential offer Prayers for General Synod

Anglican Church of Canada General Synod delegates are meeting in London, ON, June 23 - 29. We offer prayers for the success of the General Synod, with its theme: They will soar on wings like eagles (Isaiah 40:31), encompassing a sense of hope, strength, and renewal.

We can take pride in the leadership of our Diocese regarding the unanimous approval of the Faith Pledge Resolution (re: the misuse of NDAs) at its recent Diocesan Synod: Based on the wording and success of that Resolution, our Diocesan Bishop Sandra has been asked to Second the misuse of NDAs Resolution at General Synod.

The Can't Buy My Silence co-founder, Dr. Julie Macfarlane, notes that the Resolution will be presented/moved by the Rev. Dr. Canon Jeffrey Metcalfe of the Diocese of Quebec, the author of the excellent column in the June 2025 issue of the Anglican Journal about the misuse of NDAs and the church's needed role in no longer using them for anything other than their initial purpose: "Buying silence is a social sin the church cannot afford: NDAs compromise our Christian witness in the aftermath of misconduct. It's time to end them" (page 4):
