6-Minute Study - #424Rundown? or Running Pace? There's no doubt, ministry needs are endless. Parish leaders - both laity and ordained - could work 24-7, seven days a week. Yet God gave us the commandment for Sabbath rest. How can we strive for a rhythm of work, play, praise and rest that reflects the abundant life God wills for us?
Read this article, by Emily Lund, Director of Communications, Leadership Education at Duke Divinity. It's called, Could slowing down help us both recharge and build endurance?

SYNOD 2025

Anglicans Powering Potential - Synod
Anglicans Powering Potential give thanks to Bishop Sandra and all Synod office staff for making possible the uplifting 152nd Synod: Therefore We Have Hope. There were many wonderful features, with the keynote presenter, the Rt. Rev. Deon K. Johnstone, being paramount. The many ways in which he allowed delegates to explore the message of "Hope [being] a radical act of defiance in the face of the impossible" were inspirational. The worship, the music, the displays, and the presentations of Resolutions, along with table discussions, all contributed to a very successful Synod 2025.
Certainly, APP has hope and gives thanks for the several social justice Resolutions, especially its own regarding the unanimous acceptance to adopt the "Faith Pledge" of Can't Buy My Silence and Daughter Project Canada, affirming the commitment already undertaken by the Diocese of NS & PEI, to never use Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs), unless requested by the complainant, in cases involving sexual harassment, misconduct or abuse, discrimination, retaliation, or bullying. Thank you to all delegates.
The acceptance of this Resolution resulted in significant news coverage, one being a CBC Radio Maritime Noon interview on Mon. May 26: Listen here
There is also a print news item of May 26: Read here
It is hoped that the leadership of our Diocese and its moral commitment not to silence victims or avoid accountability will be an inspiration for a similar Resolution at General Synod in late June. There is an excellent article in the June 2025 issue of the Anglican Journal, "Buying silence is a social sin the church cannot afford) (page 4), authored by Jeffrey Metcalfe: Read here

Thy Kingdom Come - 2025

It is a global ecumenical prayer movement that invites Christians around the world to pray from Ascension to Pentecost for more people to come to know and experience Christ. This 'global wave of prayer' starts May 29 and runs until June 8.
This is a great way to energize long-time parishioners to PRAY, LISTEN and DISCERN how God is at work in our local neighbourhoods. There are a variety of resources, especially for community engagement, private or small group devotion and Sunday worship times. INCLUDES a free downloadable Novena Devotional, and MORE!
