Bishop Sandra is pleased to announce the appointment of two new Regional Deans: The Reverend Tammy Hodge Orovec as Regional Dean of the Chebucto Region and The Reverend Cathy Lee Cunningham as Regional Dean of the Rivers to Trails Region. Welcome!

Bishop Sandra has accepted the resignation of The Reverend Benjamin von Bredow as Rector of the Parish of Shelburne effective August 18^th, 2025. At this time Fr. Benjamin will begin a new job in Halifax. He will also leave Anglican ministry and relinquish his orders as an Anglican priest in order for his family to join the Orthodox Church. We pray for Fr. Benjamin, his wife Katy, their daughters, Theodora and Cecilia, and the wider parish family as they prepare for this transition in their lives and ministry.

Please join the Proud Anglicans team at this year’s Halifax Pride Parade – Saturday July 19! 

The parade route can be found here (https://waterfrontmediahfx.the902hxir.ca/70291-2), and the parade begins at 12:00 noon.

We will gather at the Citadel Community Center/High School grounds, entering at the checkpoint on Trollop Street by 11:00am, July 19th, when the street closures begin. There is no parking at the gathering grounds.  

We will communicate the float number via as many sources as possible (email, Facebook, word of mouth, etc.). If you signal your interest in participating by sending an email to me (dawnpurcell@gmail.com ), I’ll be able to be in direct contact with you about the details.

The Anglican Foundation of Canada (AFC) is inviting Anglicans across Canada to establish or expand community ministry partnerships in this year’s Request for Proposals (RFP). Having funded hundreds of community ministry projects across Canada, AFC knows what it takes to build successful partnerships in priority impact areas, such as food security, social justice, leadership and education, arts enrichment, and more. Through grant reports and testimonials, applicants are sharing with AFC their positive experiences working with a variety of partners, including other churches and faith groups, not-for-profit organizations, schools and community educators, and small businesses.

We continue to strive to work towards reconciliation with First Peoples in Canada. There are several opportunities for our congregations and small groups to be intentional in this relationship-building, advocacy, education and inclusive worship. 

• June is National Indigenous History Month.

• June 21 is National Indigenous Peoples Day

• September 30 is National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

• October 1 is Treaty Day, the beginning of Mi’kmaq History Month (PEI & NS).

Parish leaders can invite, embrace and celebrate our LGBTQ2+ family members, supporters and allies, incorporating special prayers and other acknowledgements during worship. A SURVEY SEEKING SPIRITUAL DIRECTORS/COMPANIONS has been prepared and can be accessed below. I ask for your assistance: fill it out for yourself, if you are currently serving or are open to serve as a Spiritual Director; as well as sharing it with others you know in the community who are ministering in this capacity.
We will be looking to know such details as availability (day/evenings/weekends); in-person/online/telephone; willingness to take new directees; and, interest in becoming part of a group for further training opportunities.

Tune In With Yourself, With One Another, and With God

For this year's Diocesan Youth Camp (DYC), we are headed off to Big Cove Camp in Sutherlands River, Nova Scotia, for a weekend full of climbing high and low ropes, exploring our creativity, talking about prayer, worshipping together, and having lots of fun!

DYC is for youth in grades 7 to 12, and while we are still figuring out the fine details, registration is open now!

Music lovers are warmly invited to Resound the Glory, an inspiring concert by Scotia Brass under the direction of conductor Rod MacGillivray, in support of restoring the 105-year-old St. Mark’s Casavant Brothers organ — a treasured piece of local musical heritage.

Reverend Canon James Purchase will be celebrating his 60th Anniversary of the Ordination to the Priesthood on the feast of Saint Peter and Saint Paul, the Apostles, transferred from June 29th. A Sung Eucharist will be held at the Anglican Church of the Apostles (6670 Bayers Road) on Monday, June 23rd at 10:30 am. Clergy are invited to vest and take part in the procession. Liturgical color will be red. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall. All are invited. Best Wishes only.
