The Anglican Foundation of Canada (AFC) is inviting Anglicans across Canada to establish or expand community ministry partnerships in this year’s Request for Proposals (RFP). Having funded hundreds of community ministry projects across Canada, AFC knows what it takes to build successful partnerships in priority impact areas, such as food security, social justice, leadership and education, arts enrichment, and more. Through grant reports and testimonials, applicants are sharing with AFC their positive experiences working with a variety of partners, including other churches and faith groups, not-for-profit organizations, schools and community educators, and small businesses.

• The motion to move forward with this initative from the minutes of council are required
• The deadline for applying are earlier than the foundation dates as our applications must vetted and brought to Diocesan Council before they are sent to the foundation
• If the grant application includes working with youth your vulnerable sector policies must be included in the application.

It is a challenge to see the big picture of our parish's ministry to the neighbourhood when we are in the middle of day-to-day activities. A good practice once in a while is to pause and intentionally take a broad view, discerning how the mission priorities are being lived out in the faith community. Read about one minister, Henry G. Brinton, and his 'balcony time' exercise that helped clarify purpose and priorities. The article is published by the Alban Institute (Duke University). 

A SURVEY SEEKING SPIRITUAL DIRECTORS/COMPANIONS has been prepared and can be accessed below. I ask for your assistance: fill it out for yourself, if you are currently serving or are open to serve as a Spiritual Director; as well as sharing it with others you know in the community who are ministering in this capacity.
We will be looking to know such details as availability (day/evenings/weekends); in-person/online/telephone; willingness to take new directees; and, interest in becoming part of a group for further training opportunities.

MISSIONAL MOMENTS

In line with our theme, we invite parishes and parishioners to submit photos that depict moments of hope that we can showcase throughout Synod. As Bishop Sandra reflects on our theme, she likens it to the image of a seed breaking forth to eventually become a tree, and then a stump. We see how the tree, which emerged from a tiny seed, continues to bring forth new life, even after it has been cut down. This reminds us that, even as we face change and the loss of familiar aspects of Church life, new life still emerges. We are a people who believe in the resurrection of the dead. You can submit your photos of moments of hope to Rev. Carl Fraser, part of our tech team, at vocations@nspeidiocese.ca as soon as possible.

Atlantic School of Theology Credit Course: Pilgrimage and Retreat Leadership
