Understand, Manage & Reduce the Risks of Arson:Protect Your Place of Worship Arson continues to be the leading cause of fires affecting Canadian places of worship, with up to 50 incidents a year across the country. It is a frightening and potentially devastating crime and when it occurs at a place of worship, the physical and emotional damages can be enormous. Damages can include the total or partial destruction of a heritage building; irreparable damage to furnishings, stained glass windows or other unique architectural elements; the destruction of invaluable religious items; and the temporary, or even permanent, loss of a community’s consecrated place to congregate. It is a sad fact that Canadian places of worship must be more vigilant than ever before and make a concerted effort to face this issue head-on. Dear PWRDF Parish Representatives, Rectors and Friends of PWRDF:
I hope you are all well and staying safe. As our vaccination rates continue to climb in the region we are seeing signs and indications that life is returning to some form of normalcy. In this connection, I am pleased to share with you that our Annual Diocesan Gathering has been scheduled for Saturday, November 6, 2021. The agenda is still to be finalized but I can confirm staff from PWRDF as well as Bishop Sandra will be participating. We will, once again, plan to have some interactive time to allow for us to share and learn from one another. This has become a popular feature of the Gathering. We do have physical space reserved for the event in the Diocesan Centre in Halifax but also plan to allow “virtual” participation via Zoom. Of course, meeting in person will be dependent on COVID restrictions at the time. In order to help us plan, it would be helpful if you could participate in the short survey using the link below. https://forms.gle/mQoaoE8udZNy97X27 Thanks in advance for your help. Warm regards, Chris Pharo, PWRDF Diocesan Representative (NS/PEI) For more infomation visit: http://nspeidiocese.ca/events/pwrdf-annual-diocesan-gathering/2021-11-06

SIX-MINUTE STUDY #259IT'S NOT ABOUT NUMBERS Missional ministry is ultimately about building right relationships - with God and with one another. Whether we have 500 parishioners or 15, what matters is the impact of our work in community. Congregational life is not about counting - in the pews or in the bank. Maybe it is time for your parish to revisit its priorities and consider how you are making a difference. Read the Episcopal Church Foundation Vestry Papers article, The Power of Small Churches: Beyond the Numbers, written by Aisha Huertas.

Education for Ministry is Recruiting for the Fall
Education for Ministry is a program designed for laity to provide theological study and reflection rooted in the Scriptures and traditions of the Church. Participants meet once a week for 1.5 to 2 hours. Reading the textbook, the Bible and other works, doing the assignments etc. will take more time on your own. What each student takes away from EfM depends on how much time and energy are devoted to the course. Each year of the four year course is 36 weeks long and can start in either September of January. In either case, there are no classes over the summer, and we take a break for Christmas. More information can be found here: www.efmcanada.ca/onlinecourse.html or for information on EfM in our diocese: http://djharrison.ca/html%20pages/EfM.html You may also contact David Harrison (djh@djharrison.ca or 902-923-2902) he is the Diocesan EfM Coordinator and an EfM Online mentor. Canadian Church Calendar 2022
The Anglican Church Women Diocesan Board will be ordering the Canadian Church Calendar 2022 for distribution to the parishes. However, there is also the option for parishes to order directly from the Anglican Church of Canada (ACC) e-store www.anglican.ca/calendar. We ask that parishes using that option (of ordering directly from ACC for the 2022 calendar), that have been ordering calendars from the Board in the past, e-mail the Board regarding that decision to make the switch (acw.nsboard@gmail.com) by July 31, 2021. The Board needs to have a clearer sense of the number of calendars to order. Thank you. For more infomation visit: http://nspeidiocese.ca/events/canadian-church-calendar-2022/2021-06-29
