INSTALLATION OF ARCHDEACONS AND CANONS June 11th – Hold the Date and Save your Screen We’ve been waiting and hoping for an opportunity to gather in-person to officially install Archdeacons and Honorary Canons at a service at the Cathedral Church of All Saints, but we’ve had to change our plans (how often have we said that over the past year?!). As it becomes increasingly obvious that an in-person gathering isn’t likely to be possible soon, we have pivoted to an online service on June 11th. Join us as we celebrate the Feast Day of St. Barnabas. Watch for details later this week on the Diocesan website and in next week’s edition of the NetNews. Collect for St. Barnabas: Merciful God, help us to follow the example of your faithful servant Barnabas, who, seeking not his own renown but the well-being of your Church, gave generously of his life and substance for the relief of the poor and the spread of the gospel; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. Growth for Ministry Fund ApplicationsThe Growth for Ministry Committee will be meeting later in June and wish to remind everyone to submit your applications by June 7th, 2021. Applications can be found here under policy 2.2.9, both in word and .pdf. |

Indigenous CanadaUniversity of Alberta Many people have felt shocked by the discovery of the remains of 215 children at the site of a former residential school and are wondering what they can do. Many Indigenous people have said that while this is a tragic discovery, they aren't shocked by it. When you know the history of residential schools, of colonization, of white supremacy in Canada as they do, this discovery is deeply horrific, but not surprising. One way that some Indigenous people have suggested taking action is by getting educated, learning about their histories and the impacts of colonization. The University of Alberta has a free, Massive Open Online Course called Indigenous Canada. It's from their Faculty of Native Studies and it explores Indigenous histories and contemporary issues in Canada. For more infomation visit:

Covid-19 Update - Nova Scotia & Prince Edward Island
PEI: On May 27th the Government of Prince Edward Island released a document called Moving Forward. It outlines the plan to move out of the health emergency declared over a year ago. The plan is laid out in five steps and each step is contingent upon low case counts and vaccination targets. If these circumstances change by trending in an undesirable direction, then the plan will also change or get delayed. Until September 12th it’s expected that there will not be a measurable impact on Anglican Churches. Given the typical size of our buildings the increase in gathering limits over the summer will not cause much change. Cohort sizes might change, in terms of what’s allowable, but social distancing and contact tracing measures are still in place until September 12. The goal is that by September 12 there will be no restrictions on gatherings. Please review this plan to determine the implications for your Parish. If you have questions or concerns, please contact Public Health or reach out to us at bishopsoffice@nspeidiocese.ca and we’ll try to help. You can find the plan here: Moving Forward in 2021. NS: On May 28th the Government of Nova Scotia released its reopening plan for the province. This is a five-phase plan beginning June 2nd. We hope to reach phase 5 by Fall 2021. As of today we are entering phase one of the plan. Indoor faith gatherings are still not permitted. Outdoor faith gatherings (including drive-in services) can have up to 10 people. Indoor meetings or gatherings are still not permitted. In phase two, if case counts remain low and vaccination targets are reached, businesses and organizations (including churches/parishes) will be able to hold indoor meetings with up to ten people. This has been confirmed with Dr. Strang. If you have questions or concerns, please contact Public Health or reach out to us at bishopsoffice@nspeidiocese.ca and we’ll try to help. You can find the reopening plan here: Reopening plan - Government of Nova Scotia, Canada For more infomation visit: http://nspeidiocese.ca/news/covid-19-update-nova-scotia--243

ACW Board’s Annual Project
Supporting Parents: Stories That MatterMaking a contribution to the Diocesan Anglican Church Women Board’s Annual Project, Supporting Parents: Stories That Matter, is a small but significant step in responding to the Call to Action of the Truth & Reconciliation Commission regarding culturally relevant parenting support. The importance of such support is magnified with the devastating discovery of the burial site of 215 children who did not survive the Kamloops Residential School. Cheques for Supporting Parents: Stories That Matter are payable to the Anglican Church Women Board, Annual Project in the memo line, and mailed to Marjorie Davis, 204 - 111 Pebblecreek Drive, Dartmouth, NS B2W 0L1.

We are excited to tell you that PWRDF will be once again participating in the Ride for Refuge, and “Ride Freestyle” is back.
