Please pray with the people of Texas

Last week I attended the College for Bishops training program in Richmond, Virginia, and spent time with bishops from the Episcopal Church in the U.S., Australia, Canada, Mexico and Uruguay. During one mealtime conversation the issue of gun violence arose. One U.S. bishop shared experiences in her diocese and with the group, Bishops United Against Gun Violence (https://bishopsagainstgunviolence.org/). I shared our experiences in Nova Scotia with the Portapique shootings in April, 2020. I was grieved to learn yesterday of the most recent school shootings in Uvalde, Texas. The Bishop of West Texas (who I haven’t met) has issued a pastoral letter in response to the shootings (https://www.dwtx.org/blog/prayers-for-uvalde). Please join with me in prayer with him for the victims, their families, and the people of Uvalde, the Anglican community of St. Philip’s Church, and the Episcopal Diocese of West Texas. We pray for those who grieve and all who are working for changes to gun control legislation.
