Seniors Programs

Loneliness in seniors is a significant issue in today’s world. When asked what the
four basic needs are, the answer includes connection, security, purpose, and
respect. Meeting emotional needs can improve overall well-being and
relationships. We have researched some of the services available to the elderly in
our communities across NS and PEI.

Seniors Connect NS: A free, phone-based recreation program featuring scheduled group chats, trivia, singalongs, and lectures. It requires no internet, making it highly accessible. You can reach the program coordinator directly at 902-410-7092 or visit Seniors Connect NS.

A Friendly Voice: A free, confidential line for older adults aged 55+. It connects you with a caring volunteer for a simple, judgment-free conversation.  You can call toll-free at 1-855-892-9992 or learn more at A Friendly Voice.

Seniors LINCS Program: A Nova Scotia Health initiative that provides in-home visits and social support for seniors feeling lonely or disconnected from the community. Dartmouth Senior Citizens Service Centre Commission: A centre that offers services to enhance the well-being and quality of life for older adults (50 and up) living in the community. Includes Meals on Wheels, medical and grocery transportation, activities and programs. Some events and activities are open to all

Elders/Seniors Programming: Mi'kmaw Native Friendship Society. Provides supportive wellness services, companionship, and cultural connection for older adults.
