Most of us have a Christmastime carol which has special significance — perhaps a favourite of our mother or father, or one associated with a close friend. There’s a way of expressing this — of paying tribute to the memory of your parent or friend whom you’d like to think warm thoughts about. It’s the annual Memorial Carol Sing. It’s December 4th, Sunday afternoon, 2:00 o’clock. It’s an hour and a half of Advent and Christmastime music — whether in the church itself or at home with an online connection. It will be an emotional, meaningful occasion. You get to listen to — and for the most part sing — the music of the Christmas season. And here’s the ‘memorial’ part … you can make it more special in one or both of two ways: 1) a 10-dollar (or more) donation lets you inscribe the name of a person you want to remember on a star which gets placed on the Memorial Tree, and that also puts the name of the remembered person in the keepsake printed program 2) a 50-dollar donation lets you actually choose a carol for the line-up of music -- presumably one that carries an emotional connection between you and the person who is being remembered.
There are three dates to have in mind: • the first deadline - to choose a carol - November 16th • the deadline for putting a memorial-name into the program - November 29th. • and the Carol Event itself, which is Sunday afternoon, December 4th.
The money is for the St. Paul’s Organ Fund -- for maintaining our wonderful 1936 Cassavant organ. Donations cover repairs — such as this year’s overhaul of the pedalboard which cost $15,000.
But the money is not what’s most important. This is a wonderful way to get into the Advent season and prepare for a thoughtful Christmastime. So we hope that you can be part of it.http://www.stpaulschurch.ca, or call the office at 902-892-1691 Information is on the St. Paul’s website:
