Each parish is able to elect a youth delegate, between the ages of 16 and 25, to Synod.

Youth Delegates come to Synod as part of their parish delegation, and the parish is responsible for their youth delegate for the duration of Synod, but we do offer some programming and preparation for youth delegates in the lead up to Synod, as well as opportunities to gather throughout Synod.

Our Youth and Family Ministry Coordinator, Allie Colp, along with a dedicated Youth @ Synod team, will be in touch with all youth delegates directly about those opportunities.

Often, Youth Delegates have a parent, guardian, or other family member who is also attending Synod as part of the parish delegation. If this is not the case, and the youth delegate is under the age of 19 (the legal age of majority in Nova Scotia, where Synod will be held this year), the parish may wish to have the delegate and their parent or guardian sign a participation consent form. We've created a template for this, which you can download as a word document here.

If you have any questions about youth participation in Synod, don't hesitate to contact Allie at youthandfamily@nspeidiocese.ca !
