Openings

Openings

1. Parish of Tangier, 1/2 time Rector

The Anglican Parish of Holy Trinity Tangier is seeking a half-time rector to join our parish family. Our parish is located on the scenic Marine Drive (Highway 7) on the Eastern Shore of Nova Scotia. Our Parish serves the communities from East Ship Harbour in the west, to Sheet Harbour in the East, to Beaver Dam, and Mooseland in the North. We are a parish with six congregations, St. Peter’s (Murphy Cove), Holy Trinity (Tangier), St. Thomas (Mooseland), St. Andrew’s (Spry Harbour), St. James (Spry Bay), and St. Paul’s (Mushaboom).

2.Parish of Seaforth - All Apostles by the Sea

All Apostles by the Sea is seeking a full-time minister to join our community. We are excited to embark upon a creative relationship with our new Rector. We are blessed with the natural brightness of the design of All Apostles by the Sea; which is uplifting and has the same effect on one as that of a bright sunny day. Combining that with liturgy and music creates an environment of family, fellowship, and enjoyment.

3. Parishes of Holy Trinity Emmanuel and St. Alban's Dartmouth.

Holy Trinity Emmanuel and St. Alban’s are two small parishes hoping to share one rector. We have been doing this very successfully for over a year with the support of the congregations, wardens, lay readers, lay leaders and our priest.

FIND YOUR JOY

FIND YOUR JOY

Six Minute Study #318

There's no doubt, ministry is hard work. It's also extremely rewarding. Sometimes we miss that.  Leading congregations in flourishing ministry means facing many challenges, but there's also JOY to be embraced while we're finding our way.

White Ribbon Sunday

White Ribbon Sunday

Honour White Ribbon Sunday - wear a white ribbon on the Sunday before (or on) November 25 and for the 16 Days of Activism (Nov. 25 – Dec. 10), with the pledge never to commit, condone or remain silent about all forms of gender based violence and discrimination.

As followers of Jesus, we cannot remain silent in the face of gender injustice. Together we can build a future defined by respect and empathy. The White Ribbon is our campaign – let’s help it flourish and grow!

Every year, from November 25 (International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women) to December 10 (World Human Rights Day), Canadians observe the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence. It is an opportunity to come together to call out, speak up and renew our commitment to end gender-based violence.

Not Just a Stopgap: Building Genuine Community Online

A workshop with AST Alumna Dawn Léger - Monday, November 28, 2022, via Zoom 8:00 pm Atlantic | 7:00 pm Eastern - Free of charge

About the Speaker

Dawn Léger (AST '06) is co-pastor of Harbor Online Community, an international, fully online church ministering to a wide array of Jesus followers. You can find Harbor Online at www.onlineharbor.org.

In 2020, most churches in North America made investments in online technology to minister to their people during lockdown. A surprising result was meeting visitors from all over the world. Dawn will share the story of her online church, Harbor Online Community, from its start as a house church, to making the transition online, and why it stayed there. You will hear what is being learned about ministry and leadership and about opportunities for building more online ministries using existing investments.

This workshop is for all clergy or lay leaders who wish to begin an online ministry or to continue online ministries that started during the pandemic.

This event will take place online-only, via Zoom. Please register using the link below, and the Zoom link will be sent to you.

Memorial Carol Sing at St. Paul’s Charlottetown

Memorial Carol Sing at St. Paul’s Charlottetown

Sunday, December 4, 2022

Most of us have a Christmastime carol which has special significance — perhaps a favourite of our mother or father, or one associated with a close friend.  There’s a way of expressing this — of paying tribute to the memory of your parent or friend whom you’d like to think warm thoughts about.

It’s the annual Memorial Carol Sing. It’s December 4th, Sunday afternoon, 2:00 o’clock.  It’s an hour and a half of Advent and Christmastime music — whether in the church itself or at home with an online connection.  It will be an emotional, meaningful occasion.

You get to listen to — and for the most part sing — the music of the Christmas season.  And here’s the ‘memorial’ part … you can make it more special in one or both of two ways:
1) a 10-dollar (or more) donation lets you inscribe the name of a person you want to remember on a star which gets placed on the Memorial Tree, and that also puts the name of the remembered person in the keepsake printed program
2) a 50-dollar donation lets you actually choose a carol for the line-up of music -- presumably one that carries an emotional connection between you and the person who is being remembered.

There are three dates to have in mind:
  • the first deadline - to choose a carol - November 16th
  • the deadline for putting a memorial-name into the program - November 29th.
  • and the Carol Event itself, which is Sunday afternoon, December 4th.

The money is for the St. Paul’s Organ Fund -- for maintaining our wonderful 1936 Cassavant organ.  Donations cover repairs — such as this year’s overhaul of the pedalboard which cost $15,000.

But the money is not what’s most important.  This is a wonderful way to get into the Advent season and prepare for a thoughtful Christmastime.  So we hope that you can be part of it.
