We Shall All Be Changed - A Prayer Vigil

We Shall All Be Changed - A Prayer Vigil

Friday, October 14th, 7-8 p.m.

Join us as we offer prayers for the clergy, people and parishes of our Diocese, holding space during what would have been the first hour of our opening Synod service. A candle will be lit for each Synod delegate, and each delegate will be remembered by name silently. Prayers will also be offered for those affected by Hurricane Fiona and the first responders who are restoring vital infrastructure in communities across the Diocese. Extra candles will be available for those who wish to light them to remember particular individuals or situations.

Prayers will be interspersed with short readings, silence and music for reflection.

Openings

Openings

1. Parish of Tangier, 1/2 time Rector

The Anglican Parish of Holy Trinity Tangier is seeking a half-time rector to join our parish family. Our parish is located on the scenic Marine Drive (Highway 7) on the Eastern Shore of Nova Scotia. Our Parish serves the communities from East Ship Harbour in the west, to Sheet Harbour in the East, to Beaver Dam, and Mooseland in the North. We are a parish with six congregations, St. Peter’s (Murphy Cove), Holy Trinity (Tangier), St. Thomas (Mooseland), St. Andrew’s (Spry Harbour), St. James (Spry Bay), and St. Paul’s (Mushaboom).

2.Parish of Seaforth - All Apostles by the Sea

All Apostles by the Sea is seeking a full-time minister to join our community. We are excited to embark upon a creative relationship with our new Rector. We are blessed with the natural brightness of the design of All Apostles by the Sea; which is uplifting and has the same effect on one as that of a bright sunny day. Combining that with liturgy and music creates an environment of family, fellowship, and enjoyment.

Reporting/Distribution of Quarterly Interest to Parishes The Trustees of our CTF (CIBC Mellon/ Mellon NY) have recently migrated Accounting and Client reporting to a much larger and complex platform. Reporting back to the Clients (Diocese) is slowed this quarter -during this migration. We are communicating with them regularly-impressing the need for reporting back to us “as quickly as possible”. We will do Quarter 3, 2022 distribution and reporting back to our Parishes as soon as we absolutely are able.

Peter Flemming, Acting Controller.

How to plan for the post-pandemic future of church buildings

How to plan for the post-pandemic future of church buildings

Six Minute Study #314

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION We are blessed in this Diocese to have an Anglican presence in more than 200 communities. This is truly a gift and also a responsibility in our stewarding of these properties. Many of our facilities are not being used as effectively as they could be, and some of them require costly repairs. Exploring possibilities for our churches and land means listening, learning, and asking questions with honesty and an open mind.

Read, how to plan for the post-pandemic future of church buildings, published by Faith and Leadership (Virginia Theological Seminary).

How to plan for the post-pandemic future of church buildings

Many houses of worship in America are in a precarious financial condition. Declining membership, increased property costs and pandemic pressures have all conspired against the traditional, steepled structures with which we all are familiar.
