They are in no particular order, so you can read through them all, or search for key works using control+F on a PC or Command+F on a mac to see if you can find what you are looking for!
Families will register to participate in this project together. Each family will be assigned one of the 24 days leading up to Christmas to prepare ornaments for. Each family will make 24 copies of the same ornament, to be distributed to all of the participating families. Those ornaments will get sent into the Synod Office, repackage, and then redistributed as an Advent Devotion and Reflection package for your family, containing an ornament for each day of Advent, a reading and reflection guide, and maybe a few other treats!
Then, we will have a zoom call for families on November 30th (time tbd!), for a time to pray together and meet one another, ahead of the first day of filling up our Jesse Trees!
Starting on December 1, there will be a reflection for families to do each day, and an ornament to add to their Jesse Tree. There will be some flexibility for this to take as much or as little time as works for each family, but we estimate that as little as 10 minutes is enough to make it meaningful.
Then we'll wrap up with another zoom call around Epiphany!
This project is for families - and what that family looks like is up to you. It could be parents and kids, but might inlcude generations, or relations beyond that too! It has been designed with families that include children up to 19 years old in mind, so we will be prioritizing spots for families that include people in that age range.
Absolutely! It is our joy to affirm and celebrate the presence and participation of 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals and their families in the Youth and Family Ministry programs of the Diocese of NS + PEI.
You sure don't! This is a ministry of the Anglican Diocese, but anyone is welcome to be part of it!
All associated costs (shipping, craft supplies, etc) will be covered byt hte Youth and Family Ministry Vision Strategy and Support Team.
Anyone and everyone regardless of what they think their level of artistic ability is can be part of this project! We'll send colouring page templates to each family based on their day's ornament, so your family's contribution can be as simple as colouring those in and sending them back to us.
Of course, if you want to do something more than that, you'd be very welcome to be as creative as you'd like and make ornaments out of felt, fabric, upcycled materials, or just about anything else that you can think of!
Absolutely! While it's super if multiple families in one parish are part of the project, it's not necessary at all. Apart from the zoom call at the start and end of the project, families will participate in this as a family unit by themselves at home. In fact, we hope that this project will help families who don't have others to connect to in their parish feel connected to others throughout the diocese!
