Bishop Sandra has accepted the resignation of the Reverend Patrick Bright as Priest in Charge from the Parish of Yarmouth and Tusket effective May 1st, 2022 Bishop Sandra has accepted the transfer of the Reverend Kathryn Cook as Deacon to the Parish of Amherst effective March 17th, 2022. Bishop Sandra is inviting all churches to join with the Canadian Council of Churches on April 24th , Prayer for Ukraine and for Peace for the World, and ring your church bells at 12:00 noon (or offer some other liturgical action appropriate in your community) as a sign and celebration of hope. Easter: A Celebration of Hope
In solidarity with the Ukrainian Bishops of Canada we invite you to join with The Canadian Council of Churches on April 24, which is Pascha (Easter Sunday on the Julian calendar), to proclaim together that Christ is Risen, that love overcomes fear, and that life overcomes death and destruction. We invite all worshipping communities to pray for peace and to ring your church bells at 12 noon your time (or offer some other liturgical action appropriate in your community) as a sign and celebration of hope. Three Prayers for Ukraine (available here) Churches are invited to choose one. Printable bifold prayer cards (suitable for use in church bulletins) are available here. ReJesus is a clarion call to recenter our lives on Christ so that we might become a people who look, act, think, and sound like Jesus. Now more than ever, our world needs a church remade in our Founder's image. Authors are Michael Frost (writer of Surprise the World: The Five Habits of Highly Missional People, and Keep Christianity Weird, and Alan Hirsch (author of The Shaping of Things to Come and The Forgotten Ways, ). Youth and Family Ministry
Godly Play Core Training Godly Play is a children’s ministry program used by several parishes in our diocese. It’s focused on the stories of our faith, giving children opportunity to wonder about what those stories might mean. The training to be a Godly Play Storytelling is rich and holistic and covers everything that you need to know to make this ministry happen in your church. Training is coming up this May and June, in Halifax NS and Sackville NS. Musica SacraHoly Music for Holy Week Saturday, April 16, 2022 at 3:00 pm Christ Church Dartmouth In the darkest time of the Christian year, before the sunrise of Easter Sunday, we gather together to share some light in the form of music. Christ Church’s musical faculty are presenting a short concert with a diverse list of selections. We will be treated to a wonderful show with a mix of Allistair Maksym's powerful organ playing, Joey Dowell's expressive piano, Tessa Short’s soaring voice, and Gail Teixeira's deft violin playing. We hope to see you there. The doors will open at 2:30 pm, and the concert will begin at 3:00 pm. We will take donations to Christ Church’s musical ministry at the door. "All About Love"A benefit concert for Alzheimer's research Saturday, April 30th at 7:00 pm The Cathedral Church of All Saints An evening of nostalgic and romantic jazz standards from "The Great American Songbook" and beyond. To reserve tickets ($20) visit; https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/all-about-love-tickets-305854638457 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Standard time Jazz Ensemble These seasoned musicians bring a wealth of experience to their music and, singly, they have played all over the globe under the jazz, big band, musical theatre, country, folk, world music and classical umbrellas. The band was formed in 2016 and has played many concerts in the Halifax region, the Annapolis Valley and along the South Shore. Their shows have included a steady run at The Halifax Distilling Company and concerts for Musique Royale, The Company House, The Spatz Theatre, The Halifax Public Gardens Summer Concert Series, the Paul O’Regan Theatre, The Carleton and at many churches in the Halifax /Dartmouth area. This jazz ensemble has garnered a loyal following, much of which is due to the fact that they have focused on giving back and raising money for local and National charities. Standard Time raised almost $10 000 for charity between the years 2016-2019. The ensemble offers some of the best in nostalgic and romantic jazz standards from The Great American Songbook peppered with the lyrical fusion of samba and jazz (bossa nova). Their CD “High Time” released in March 2021, has garnered rave reviews from some of the greatest luminaries in the music business.
