Purpose:
 Nurturing the role of music in the spiritual life of congregations in the Parishes of Aylesford and Berwick.

Overall Responsibility

Provide music for Sunday  worship service;

providing music at functions including weddings, funerals and special events  (subject to  availability);  

providing musical leadership and working collaboratively with the minister, lay leaders, and volunteers to build an ever-stronger faith community that is uplifted by its music.

 Education, Skills and Ability:
Be able to display a professional level of musical talent from training and experience. Have a working knowledge and an understanding of church music. Be able to communicate well and in a friendly manner with the minister, church choirs and members of the congregation.

NOTE** Each parish has a keyboard. One of the parishes also has a unique vintage pipe organ. Although not necessary, a background and/or willingness to learn the organ is an asset.

 Performance Requirements:

Provide music for 11 am  Sunday worship  services rotating between Christ Church in Berwick and St. Mary’s in Auburn.

Occasionally provide music for weddings and funerals when available and be permitted to receive additional compensation from the parties involved.

Lead choir practice bi-weekly.

Facilitate the congregation to sing and worship through the execution of hymns.

In collaboration with the minister, arrange for qualified substitute when absent for church services and notify the minister in advance.

Assist or comment in the selection of hymns  prepared for use in worship.

Maintain  communication with the musician who leads the 9am service  as needed.

 Remuneration:

$70.00 per service plus mileage

$70.00 for each choir practice
