Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ:

The Parish of Saint Stephen’s is seeking a new full-time priest to lead our flock.

We are a historic parish dating back to 1800, located in the seaside village of Chester, on Nova Scotia’s picturesque South Shore. Chester is a wonderfully rural locale with all the essential amenities; it is also less than an hour’s drive to the bustling city of Halifax, the major metro area for the Maritimes.

We are a small but active congregation; in addition to Saint Stephen’s church, we also have a second church of St. George’s in nearby East River, as well as a chapel of All Saints in Canaan (occasional use only). Our Sunday service schedule in recent times consists of 9:00 a.m. St. George’s and 10:30 a.m. St. Stephen’s.

Our mission is: “To nurture an inviting, respectful space where all are welcome to grow in prayer and faith, while building a strong community rooted in God’s love and concern for one another.” We treasure our strong Anglican tradition (BAS and BCP), while enjoying an enthusiastic contemporary worship style from time to time. All are welcome to worship and take communion with us; we are an affirming parish who value inclusivity. Who we are seeking: A minister who is personable, vital, empathetic and gifted in leadership to help us move into the next chapter of our ministry; equally comfortable in ministering to the young, as well as the young at heart. Our ideal candidate will lead our Sunday services, nourish us with thoughtful sermons, provide compassionate pastoral care to our congregants, continue to build strong ecumenical ties, and help us enhance our outreach efforts by being visible and engaged in the local community. What We Offer: A dedicated congregation, a supportive lay ministry team, and three part-time staff: office administrator (mornings, M-Th ), music director, and property maintenance lead. We have a large, well-appointed rectory waiting for you, in the heart of Chester. The commute is unbeatable! To access our full parish profile, please email our diocesan synod office at bishopsoffice@nspeidiocese.ca. Thank you for your interest in our parish, we invite you to prayerfully consider us!

Sincerely,

The Parish of St. Stephen’s Chester Parochial Committee
