Andrew Killawee has enjoyed a rewarding career working as a music director in the Anglican tradition for more than 25 years.
Now he’s embarking on a parallel, and deeply personal project: a return to the church music of his childhood - specifically the Baptist hymnals that first shaped his understanding of spiritual and communal music-making.
By delving into these sacred pages, Andrew will attempt to reimagine melodies and harmonies that have largely been forgotten, through a contemporary lens influenced by his own 30 years of experience working in multiple genres of music.
For Andrew, this is the music of family gatherings, summer camps, and mid-week hymn sings – sounds that inspired community and faith for his family, friends, and the wider community around him.
