ReConnect & ReFrame - COMMUNITYThursday, March 2nd & 9th , 2023 Module 2 of our ReConnect & ReFrame series takes place in March. Join in this Zoom learning two-part series, hosted between the Diocese of Nova Scotia & Prince Edward Island and Diocese of Fredericton. Rethinking Community Engagement, is set for Thursdays – March 2 and March 9 – from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. (Atlantic Standard Time). We will explore how we can engage locally in relevant ways. As leaders, we face the challenge of responding to the needs in our community and how to engage people outside our parishes. Instead of being frustrated by sports schedules, leisure activities, or indifference, we will hear from some Maritimers who have taken the risk to engage with their communities in fresh ways. This ReConnect & ReFrame module includes the sharing of inspiring stories of local congregations doing interesting and impactful activities to serve their communities. Participants will have a chance for Q&A with the presenters, and short break-outs to discuss how the principles are relevant in your neighbourhood. If you have not registered for ReConnect & ReFrame already, SIGN-UP HERE: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZMsd-6urDkuE9TqlinAnSm2ayAfNcjNrGR2 Other multi-part ReConnect & ReFrame modules in Spring of 2023 are:

Parish Applications are Open for Community Roots!
After a fantastic season last summer, the Community Roots Program is preparing to come to parishes across our diocese for July and August 2023. The Community Roots Day Camp Program is primarily designed to do two things - first, to encourage young people to grow in their faith, or to learn about Christianity for the first time, and second, to develop leadership capacity in communities so that meaningful, local ministry can continue to happen there for children and youth. Our program staff works to develop and help facilitate a fun, engaging, and creative day camp program. This summer they will travel throughout the diocese, bringing all of the supplies needed for a week of camp with them to churches just like yours. If your parish is interested in hosting one of our day camps this summer, you can find more information on how to apply at: Community Roots Program We are also now hiring for our Program Administrator position. For more information, please contact youthandfamily@nspeidiocese.ca and check out our diocesan web page for more details as posted. Soul Searching for LentPersonal Spiritual Renewal There is personal spiritual renewal and then there is organizational renewal. The Anglican Church Women Diocesan Board has been involved in soul searching of its organization for over a year (so, longer than Lent!), but you might want to consider soul searching for your parish organization, whatever its name, as a Lenten Project. Any or all of the Discussion Questions that Rev. Canon Lisa Vaughn, Parish Vitality Coordinator, shared in her Diocesan Times February 2023 column, It’s A New Day! Onward and upward, designed for a parish AGM, are perfect for any parish ministry group, as well. Find them on page 6. Talk about what’s good, joyful and life-giving in your parish. Consider how your ministry group can make a difference in the community. Think about what you can stop doing so that other possibilities can be realized. Determine what your group needs to learn about and who can help. Exploring new possibilities can be very energizing. Try it!

Celebrating Women
The Anglican Church Women Diocesan Board reminds parishes that Sunday, March 5 is Women's Ministry Sunday and that there is a resource kit available for that Sunday by e-mailing acw.nsboard@gmail.com Women's Ministry Sunday is an opportunity to celebrate the hard-won progress that women have made in the church, as there are no avenues that are closed to them. Women's Ministry Sunday can be celebrated anytime that is convenient for the parish, but the placement of this Sunday in our diocese is to coincide with International Women's Day on March 8, with the 2023 theme: #EmbraceEquity. It is an opportunity to celebrate women's achievements, while recognizing there is still much to do locally, nationally, and globally for women to achieve equity - so . . . let's EmbraceEquity - all of us! Hurricane Fiona Resilience Response Project
The Diocese of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island is requesting proposals from parishes and not-for profit community groups that are seeking support following Hurricane Fiona that touched down in the Diocese on September 24, 2022. This initiative is being funded by donations received in response to the PWRDF Hurricane Fiona Appeal from last Fall. Anglicans across Canada donated generously resulting in a total of $50,000 being available to fund projects. PWRDF has entered into an agreement with the Diocese to administer and deliver this fund. The strategic goal or overarching objective of this fund is to help parishes/communities take steps or measures to make them more resilient and resistant to future major weather events. This Request for Proposal seeks to attract projects that may fill gaps as to what may not have been funded through other recovery and relief programs that are currently available in Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. It is important that projects do not duplicate efforts or existing funding streams but, rather, leverage and collaborate with other programs and funding initiatives. Project proposals will be evaluated on how closely they align with the following three criteria: 1) Does the project proposal demonstrate a clear case for support, with goods, services and training that responds to an identified need and significant community interest; 2) To what extent does the proposed initiative support mid to longer term needs for planning; and 3) Does the proposal demonstrate availability and commitment of proponents of the application to implement the project efficiently and effectively, leveraging other sources of funding and in-kind resources as possible and available from government and other sources. Examples of inputs and activities for projects that would be considered are: • Awareness and Preparedness trainings for Emergencies; • Readiness of warming stations should there be power outages or other damage; • Purchase of generators for such emergency use; • Community gatherings for processing and preparing for weather / climate related events including hurricanes, storm surges, etc.; and • Counseling and supports for those impacted by an emergency Please note that the maximum amount of funding per project is $8,000. The deadline for project applications is Friday, March 17, 2023 and projects must be completed by Friday, October 20, 2023. For more information on the Hurricane Fiona Resilience Response Fund or to receive an application form please email: Chris Pharo, PWRDF Diocesan Representative cpharo@eastlink.ca For more infomation visit: http://nspeidiocese.ca/news/hurricane-fiona-resilience-response-project |

Music, Director - part-time
The Parish of Trinity, Halifax, is currently searching for a new Director of Music. The Music Director we seek will strive to build up a church music program that is sensitive to classical Anglicanism and the Prayerbook tradition, by drawing upon the richness of Christian sacred music and hymnody, both evangelical and catholic, and the best of contemporary hymn-writing. The ideal candidate will be a competent organist and musician with the ability to teach, who can elevate our liturgy through the use of music (instrumental and choral), so that the whole congregation is encouraged to participate in worship that is vital, transformative, reverent and beautiful. For a detailed job description and to apply please touch base with our parish office (trinity.church@ns.aliantzinc.ca) Applications are being received until the end of February, and should include a cover letter and resumé.
