Anglican Net News - April 20th, 2022
Resignation and Relinquishment of the Exercise of Ordained Ministry - Archbishop Mark MacDonald

Resignation and Relinquishment of the Exercise of Ordained Ministry - Archbishop Mark MacDonald

Dear Diocesan family,

It is with deep sorrow that I share this news with you, released today by the Anglican Church of Canada, about the Resignation and Relinquishment of the Exercise of Ordained Ministry of National Indigenous Anglican Archbishop Mark MacDonald. This comes after the receipt of allegations of sexual misconduct.

https://www.anglican.ca/news/public-announcement-of-the-resignation-of-archbishop-mark-macdonald/30039033/

More will be shared in the coming days about the work we have been doing in our Diocese to revise our Sexual Misconduct Policy and to respond to calls for Trauma-Informed approaches and responses. However, at this time I ask your prayers for all who have been impacted by these events, especially the complainant in this matter and all victims of sexual misconduct and abuse in the Church. Please also pray for all our relations – for indigenous communities and leaders, and all others who have been served by the ministry of the National Indigenous Anglican Archbishop, as well as Mark MacDonald and his family. May God bring healing and hope and may we as the wounded body of Christ be renewed in our commitment to the safety, care and wellbeing of all, especially those who are most vulnerable. Lord, have mercy.

In sorrow and hope,

+Sandra

GETTING RECONNECTED

GETTING RECONNECTED

Six Minute Study #299

Coming out the pandemic we know how valuable are our relationships. We long for community-building opportunities and yet, some are out of the habit of circulating, while others may be COVID cautious. Making (safe) space in which to gather people is going to be key. Read more in this article,  Relationships are Key in the Post-Covid Church, by Joy Skjegstad and Heidi Unruh, published on the Virginia Theological Seminary/Building Faith site.

Standard time Jazz Ensemble

These seasoned musicians bring a wealth of experience to their music and, singly, they have played all over the globe under the jazz, big band, musical theatre, country, folk, world music and classical umbrellas.

The band was formed in 2016 and has played many concerts in the Halifax region, the Annapolis Valley and along the South Shore.  Their shows have included a steady run at The Halifax Distilling Company and concerts for Musique Royale, The Company House, The Spatz Theatre, The Halifax Public Gardens Summer Concert Series, the Paul O’Regan Theatre, The Carleton and at many churches in the Halifax /Dartmouth area.

This jazz ensemble has garnered a loyal following, much of which is due to the fact that they have focused on giving back and raising money for local and National charities.  Standard Time raised almost $10 000 for charity between the years 2016-2019.

The ensemble offers some of the best in nostalgic and romantic jazz standards from The Great American Songbook peppered with the lyrical fusion of samba and jazz (bossa nova). Their CD “High Time” released in March 2021, has garnered rave reviews from some of the greatest luminaries in the music business.
