Resignation and Relinquishment of the Exercise of Ordained Ministry - Archbishop Mark MacDonald
Dear Diocesan family, It is with deep sorrow that I share this news with you, released today by the Anglican Church of Canada, about the Resignation and Relinquishment of the Exercise of Ordained Ministry of National Indigenous Anglican Archbishop Mark MacDonald. This comes after the receipt of allegations of sexual misconduct. More will be shared in the coming days about the work we have been doing in our Diocese to revise our Sexual Misconduct Policy and to respond to calls for Trauma-Informed approaches and responses. However, at this time I ask your prayers for all who have been impacted by these events, especially the complainant in this matter and all victims of sexual misconduct and abuse in the Church. Please also pray for all our relations – for indigenous communities and leaders, and all others who have been served by the ministry of the National Indigenous Anglican Archbishop, as well as Mark MacDonald and his family. May God bring healing and hope and may we as the wounded body of Christ be renewed in our commitment to the safety, care and wellbeing of all, especially those who are most vulnerable. Lord, have mercy. In sorrow and hope, +Sandra The Right Reverend Sandra Fyfe Bishop The Diocese of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island |
