CHURCH BUILDINGS - REVITALIZING & RENOSSix Minute Study #276 Every week someone from a local parish in our Diocese reaches out to the Synod Office staff to inquire about the future of their church buildings. These lovely sacred spaces are usually in good shape and are located centrally in the community. Leaders are wondering how their church structures can be reimagined to better serve their neighbours and be utilized in a way that ensures their upkeep (and expenses are covered). Here's one idea from an Anglican church in Michigan. Other congregations have also considered hosting cafes', children's inside play areas, studio space for artists, and a variety of social enterprises. As you read this article, consider how your building could be graciously shared with the wider community and also build relationships with the congregation. DEN Thursday Evening GatheringsHope & Inspiration Art Gallery - Thursday, November 4, 2021, 7:00 pm The Hope & Inspiration Art Gallery began as an online Art Show when we could not mount a physical exhibit. It featured 4 local artists from the Environment Network of the Anglican Diocese of NS & PEI. Dale Cook, Luke Haugen-Strand and Wendy Bissett Beaver are painters with their own unique styles and Donna Giles is a Nature Photographer. Art expresses ideas that words cannot and projects dreams we cannot accomplish in other ways. In all its forms, art can remind us of the beauty in the world. Recognizing that the climate crisis is the most significant crisis of our time, art can inspire us to reconsider our relationship with creation and point the way to a different, more sustainable world. It is our hope the art will reconnect you with the beauty of the earth. We invite you to allow the art to inspire you to face the climate crisis and vow to take better care of our world.
