Suspension of Bishop’s Policy 1.1.24
It has been noted that some of our diocesan policies and procedures are out of step with other decisions taken by the Diocese. One such policy is Bishop’s Policy 1.1.24 - A Pastoral and Liturgical Guideline for Civilly Married Same Sex Couples ). In light of the information contained in A Pastoral Letter Regarding Same-Sex Marriage issued on September 6, 2019, extending the sacrament of Marriage to same-gender couples (https://www.nspeidiocese.ca/pages/same-sex-marriage), I have suspended Bishop’s Policy 1.1.24. In the fall we will update this policy to bring it in line with decisions that have been made in our Diocese with respect to Equal Marriage. As we join in Pride celebrations this month, this is one small step we can make to remind our LGBTQ2Si siblings that they have a place in our church. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Bishop’s Office. Blessings, +Sandra For more infomation visit: http://nspeidiocese.ca/news/suspension-of-bishop-s-policy-1-1-24 |

June 23 is International Widows Day
In a message to the Anglican Church Women Diocesan Board, Rilla Sommerville of Empowering Widows, a life-long Anglican, asks for our prayers for widows worldwide, but especially those in countries where their plight is beyond tragic. There are over 38 million widows worldwide, many with dependent children, living in extreme poverty, often subject to dehumanizing and cruel traditions. Empowering Widows encourages all of us to learn more about these marginalized, excluded, even invisible in plain sight, women: https://empoweringwidows.com On June 23, the world acknowledges the existence of destitute widows on International Widows Day. Please uphold them in prayer. For more infomation visit: http://nspeidiocese.ca/news/june-23-is-international-widows-day |

June is National Indigenous History MonthSend Indigenous youth to CLAY 2023 With your help, the Anglican Church Women Diocesan (NS & PEI) Board’s Annual Project for 2022/23, All In For Youth! will be “jump-started” by having the Board partner with Canadian Lutheran Anglican Youth (CLAY) to help the August 2023 gathering be a much more inclusive event, with greatly increased participation from Indigenous youth across Canada.
