ANGLICANS POWERING POTENTIAL
|
Christian response to vandalism at local Jewish places of worship
Anglicans Powering Potential thank Bishop Sandra for her message of support to our Jewish colleagues published in the Net News of September 17. Bishop Sandra was shocked and appalled, as were many others, to learn of the recent hateful, anti-Semitic graffiti that appeared on three Jewish places of worship in Halifax and their corresponding sidewalks. Bishop Sandra reached out to the leaders of the synagogues on behalf of Anglicans in this diocese to express our concern and support for them and their communities in the face of these acts of anti-Jewish racism. There were many others who expressed solidarity with our Jewish friends and neighbours. Anglicans Powering Potential reached out and received a message of thanks. The President of AST, the Rev. Dr. Heather McCance, was interviewed last week on CBC's early morning program, Information Morning about this anti-Semitic graffiti. The Atlantic School of Theology (AST) has a statement of support for our Jewish colleagues on the AST Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/AtlanticSchoolofTheology/). Bishop Sandra encouraged us to live out our baptismal promise, with God's help, to strive for justice and peace among all people, respecting the dignity of every human being in prayerful, practical, and concrete ways, in solidarity with our Jewish friends and neighbours, so that they can be assured of our love and care for them in these anxious times, and as they strive to live faithfully, peacefully, and without fear. Bishop Sandra reminded us that we are all children of the same God and an act of violence against any of our siblings is something we are called to condemn as followers of Jesus Christ. |
Can't Buy My SilenceFree Training Sessions to understand better the misuse of NDAs NDAs, the acronym for Non-Disclosure Agreements, are often used for purposes beyond their original intent (protection of intellectual property and trade secrets). Our Diocesan Synod in May, Therefore We Have Hope, unanimously passed a resolution, presented by Anglicans Powering Potential, confirming the Diocese would not misuse NDAs. Can’t Buy My Silence is offering an information and training session to understand better NDAs misuse. The link below allows you to register, with the link for the actual session being sent to your e-mail closer to the Oct. 9th date. So, don't hesitate to register - do so now! This promises to be a valuable session: Thursday, Oct 9th, 1 - 2.30 AST https://secure.everyaction.com/sLMgumcqmUeIHLyx96IgxA2 As well, Can’t Buy My Silence is offering a confidential peer support group for individuals affected by the misuse of NDAs and their traumatic impacts, facilitated by Dr Angela Grace, clinical psychologist, someone with her own NDA experience.
