SafeFaith Training
So far, we’ve had over 400 people from more than 40 parishes sign up for the Vector SafeFaith training, and just about half of them have completed the training already! Thanks so much to all of those folks! It’s a great start, but we still have a ways to go to get everyone signed up and entered into the system. Just a reminder that all rectors and clergy who are active in parishes as well any church staff or volunteers who have contact with children, youth, or vulnerable of any age must complete this one-hour, online training created by our Diocesan Insurer. Each parish needs to identify a point person to put together a list of names and email addresses for those who need to complete the training and either send the list to Allie (acolp@nspeidiocese.ca) or enter the information into this online For more infomation visit: |

A Christmas Gift for DEN
We are down to our last week before the DEN e-news goes quiet for a month I am asking everyone to do a green action as a Christmas gift for DEN Just do one new or used green action this Christmas season. Not a hundred. You don’t need to build the next great solar-powered carbon gobbler. Just do one thing to help the environment. Sort trash. Use a reusable coffee mug. Hang one thing out to dry instead of using the dryer. Have one container on your balcony and grow one plant. Then tell someone about it. I have preached the power of one long enough but in case someone didn’t hear it. One person does one green action and then brags, in this case, that they made Grandma or DEN happy. Their buddy laughs but later that day they do something green (that makes 2 people who did something green). They both tell a buddy that they made Grandma happy by doing this one action and they have a chuckle. After all, Grandma just asked for one action. Doesn’t take much effort. Later on, those 2 people each tell 2 more people to do something green and laugh with their buddies. Soon 4, 8, and 16, people chuckle over making Grandma happy with a single green action. Suddenly there were 32, 64, 128, or more green actions done. Then double those numbers again and again. All of this because ONE person did something green for Grandma. Tell the story this year and see what happens. Christmas is coming and there will be so many ideas that you could do to be green. Choose one thing and do it. Maybe you can do a dozen. Great! All Grandma is asking is that you consider one thing on any one day. Then let’s be happy that we are growing, no matter how slowly, towards a greener life. For more infomation visit: |

Advent journeyCathedral Church of All Saints Sundays at 9:30 and 11 a.m. This Sunday we begin our Advent journey. The word ‘advent’ means ‘coming’. It is a time of waiting, with anticipation, for the coming of the Christ Child at Christmas. At our 9:30 and 11 am services we will light a new candle each week, symbolizing, Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love. As the days grow shorter, the light grows stronger. I hope you can join us for the journey; at 9:30 as we explain the symbolism of the wreath for children, or at 11 am, where we express the ‘journey’ aspect of the season with procession and the singing of the traditional “O Antiphons”. Memorial Carol Sing at St. Paul’s CharlottetownSunday, December 4, 2022 Most of us have a Christmastime carol which has special significance — perhaps a favourite of our mother or father, or one associated with a close friend. There’s a way of expressing this — of paying tribute to the memory of your parent or friend whom you’d like to think warm thoughts about. It’s the annual Memorial Carol Sing. It’s December 4th, Sunday afternoon, 2:00 o’clock. It’s an hour and a half of Advent and Christmastime music — whether in the church itself or at home with an online connection. It will be an emotional, meaningful occasion. There are three dates to have in mind: The money is for the St. Paul’s Organ Fund -- for maintaining our wonderful 1936 Cassavant organ. Donations cover repairs — such as this year’s overhaul of the pedalboard which cost $15,000. But the money is not what’s most important. This is a wonderful way to get into the Advent season and prepare for a thoughtful Christmastime. So we hope that you can be part of it. For more infomation visit:

Christ Church Climate CafeThursday, December 15, 2022 The first Christ Church Climate Cafe was held in April of this year. In that Cafe, and in the following Cafes, participants have come from Christ Church and also the community at large. Participants are from a range of backgrounds, experiences and ages. What we all have in common is our need for a safe and supportive place to talk about our feelings about climate change. It is natural to think that talking about these feelings is depressing; what we find is exactly the opposite. Talking about our feelings, and listening to others in this setting, is heartening. Nancy Blair is a Climate Psychotherapist in Dartmouth and a parishioner at Christ Church. She started the Climate Cafe as a project of the Diocesan Environment Network (DEN). She was trained through the Climate Psychology Alliance (CPA). We now have a second trained leader, David Paterson, who is the early stages of his teaching career. The Climate Cafe meets at 7:00 PM the third Thursday of the month in the Christ Church Hall. Everyone is welcome. For information, contact Nancy Blair. nancyblaircounselling@gmail.com 902-223-3151 For more infomation visit: http://nspeidiocese.ca/events/christ-church-climate-cafe/2022-12-15 |

Mar Thoma Prayer GroupFirst Eucharist in Atlantic Canada By Walter Westwood (LLM) St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church, Middle Sackville
On Thanksgiving Monday, I had the privilege to attend a celebration of the Holy Eucharist in our church with over 80 members of the Mar Thoma Prayer group who live throughout our region. Our Rector, Rev. Nichola Cumine welcomed Rev. Sunil Chacho from Milton Ontario who presided at the service. Three Readers of the sacred Word and two Elders took part in the service. For some, it was the first time that they had the opportunity to receive a blessing or communion in six years. An excellent seven-member choir and a talented guitarist led the singing. After the service, those in attendance were offered food and refreshments. I felt blessed to be able to partake in this wonderful celebration of Holy Communion and time of fellowship.
