Photo - Women bishops in the Canadian House of Bishops. Missing from photo are Bishops Lydia Mamakwa and Anna Greenwood-Lee. SCHEDULE Thursday, September 1st – Appointments Friday, September 2nd – Institution of The Reverend Nichola Cumine, Rector of the Parish of St. John the Evangelist, Sackville Monday, September 5th – Labour Day Tuesday, September 6th – Reading/writing; Monthly meeting with the Parish Vitality Coordinator ANNOUNCEMENTS Bishop Sandra is pleased to announce the appointment of: The Reverend Natasha Brubaker Garrison as Rector of the Parish of Three Harbours, beginning October 1st, 2022. Natasha comes to us from the Diocese of Calgary, having served for ten years as the Incumbent of St. Martin’s Anglican Church and currently as the Community Hub Coordinator at the Alex Community Food Centre. We look forward to welcoming Natasha to the Diocese. The Reverend Andrew Cooke as Priest-in-Charge of the Parish of Tangier, effective September 15th, 2022. The Season of Creation begins tomorrow! As we move through the Summer and towards the Fall season, we are aware of the beauty and wonder of creation all around us. Colour and life abounds along our streets, roadsides and shores. We are blessed to live in the Diocese of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island! Again this year, we are joining with Christians around the world to celebrate the Season of Creation. This is an opportunity for you, your family and your parish to give thanks for the blessings of “this fragile Earth, our island home.” This year’s theme is “Listen to the Voice of Creation.” Liturgical resources are available to assist you in planning one or more special services throughout this Season, as well as ideas for inspiring projects and events that will help you to live out your baptismal vow to “strive to safeguard the integrity of God’s creation, and respect, sustain and renew the life of the Earth.” As we hear about and witness the devastating impacts of the climate crisis in our communities and world today, I encourage each of us to commit to participating in some way in the Season of Creation through prayer, education and action. A list of resources can be found here. Highlights from Lambeth In my column in the September issue of The Diocesan Times, I share some of my reflections and photos from the Lambeth Conference. Volunteer Position Descriptions are available for both opportunities. You may also download and fill-in a nomination form for one or both of these tasks. Canadian Church Calendar 2023 Ordering AlertAnglican Church Women All of the information for the Canadian Church Calendar 2023, Peaks & Valleys, including ordering and pricing details, is now available at: www.anglican.ca/calendar Orders are able to be placed for the 2023 calendar at that e-mail address, starting August 29, 2022. There are 2 churches in the Diocese of Nova Scotia & PEI featured in the 2023 calendar—St. John’s Lunenberg, NS (January), and St. Stephen’s near Burlington, PEI (July). The Anglican Church Women Diocesan Board will not be coordinating the Canadian Church Calendar orders for sale to the parishes this fall (2022) or into the future. Fortunately, it is possible for parishes/churches to order the Canadian Church Calendars directly from the Anglican Church of Canada (ACC) e-store: www.anglican.ca/calendar So, starting in the fall of 2022, churches and parishes will need to place their Canadian Church Calendar 2023 order directly with the ACC e-store. It is to be noted that the Canadian Church Calendar 2023 is not showing yet (August 24) on the Anglican Church of Canada on-line e-store webpage. The ACC e-store service offers many benefits: It is possible to secure 25 plus calendars at very good value and there is free ground shipping as long as the subtotal (pre-tax amount) of the calendar order is $50! This is only 10 calendars! Free ground shipping is an obvious benefit! Placing an order with the ACC’s e-store means that the order is pre-paid with a credit card at the time of placing the order. Ordering is done on-line.
