Saturday, June 19th, 2021
In 1971, the Anglican Church of Canada declared June 21 as a "National [Indigenous] Day of Prayer", requesting all dioceses to commend this day to parishes and congregations throughout Canada. In 2010, General Synod passed a resolution to add the NIDP as June 21 (or the nearest Sunday) to the church’s liturgical calendar. This year, the nearest Sunday is June 20. On this note, a national service will be streamed online (and on NCI and Wawatay Radio Networks) on Saturday, June 19 at 8pm Central Time at www.anglican.ca/nidp. All are invited to join in prayer. In addition, videos have been made available for download and optional inclusion in upcoming parish and diocesan services at https://www.anglican.ca/im/nidp/video-resources/. Please share with those who prepare services and may wish to include over the weekend or later. Videos include:
Please note that a temporary delay is requested for any wide/public release of these videos until services have aired (please hold off on posting to social media or to email lists beyond clergy/tech crew). Additional resources for parishes to mark NIDP are also available at www.anglican.ca/nidp. If you have any questions, please reach out, and as always, thanks for all that you do. Ride for Refuge
Dear friends, I hope you are all well and enjoying some beautiful summer weather. That is what is happening for us in Ontario. We are excited to tell you that PWRDF will be once again participating in the Ride for Refuge, and “Ride Freestyle” is back. In 2020, we had our most successful campaign ever, thanks to your creativity and amazing fundraising efforts, raising over $44,000. This year’s goal is an ambitious $40,000 and we know you are up for it. We are raising funds for the “Light for Every Birth” project, in which 50 solar suitcases will be provided for health clinics in Mozambique, allowing for safer births at night, in areas without power.
