Growth for Ministry Fund

The Growth for Ministry Fund exists because of the financial stewardship of Anglican who have made planned gifts to the Diocese.  The purpose is to enable the Diocese of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island to respond faithfully to God's call to minister to a wide field of mission:

    • to provide for development and/or expansion in new growth areas at the parish, regional or diocesan level;
    • to provide seed monies for experimental and/or new forms of ministry;
    • to provide funding for Outreach Ministry which touches the lives of those in need in society in general, and for the purpose of resonding on short notice to situations in the community calling for concerned Christian response.

The deadline is April 30th each year.

Policy 2.2.9 outlines the Governing Regulations and includes the Application for Funding.

Church Extension and Ministry Development Fund

The Diocesan Synod assists parishes by providing loans and mortgages for land acquisition, new construction, or repairs and renovations to parish property.  The Fund may be used to provide loans or grants to develop and support parish ministries and parish programming.

This fund may be used for the establishment of missions within a Parish considered necessary for the work of the Church by the Bishop.  The definition of mission applied in this situation is "a particular course of period of preaching, services, etc. undertaken by a parish.

Up to 100% of the requested amount may be applied for as a grant rather than a loan

More detailed information and application forms form Policy 2.2.14 - Church Extension and Ministry Development Fund and Appendices.  [Appedicies -- the application forms - are available in Word or pdf formats]

Grants and Other Funding Possibilities

The Parish has an idea, but it's financially out of reach.  Aside from the sources available through the Diocese or National Church (identified above), there are hundreds of other sources available.  Most have unique criteria and deadlines, any which might change.  Each needs careful review.

If you have no idea where to start, take a look at these opportunities...
