Stewardship

Companions on a Journey - History

ltd

General Synod 2004 approved “Letting Down the Nets” (LDTN) a strategy for raising more funds for parishes, diocese, and General Synod. The strategy has several levels, one of which is stewardship.

Request for dioceses to be pilot projects in the development of the stewardship part of the project. (LTDN pilot project requirements) NS & PEI apply for project. (LTDN Presentation format) NS & PEI are approved as a pilot project and begin next steps.

On June 12, 2006, the LDTN consultants, Geoff Jackson and Rob Waller, met with Bishops Fred and Sue for five hours to go over their report in detail. In the evening, they met with the Stewardship Resource Development Group to present their report. Everyone agreed that the report has caught the strengths and weaknesses of our diocese, as well as the opportunities for, and threats to, the success of a stewardship education program in our parishes.

A shortened version was presented to Diocesan Council on June 15. Council agreed that more time was needed to study such an important report and ( agreed to meet) met September 13, 10am to 4pm to work on the report and its recommendations. The report was accepted and action taken to form a Communications Task Force, an Allotment Review Task Force and to hire a consultant to do an analysis of the Diocesan structures and to report to Diocesan Council by June 2007.

report The report of the LDTN interviewers is available.
