Welcome from Bishop Ron
In the beginning of Matthew’s gospel, Jesus offers an invitation to the fishermen to “Follow me”. In accepting that invitation Peter, Andrew, James and John become the first disciples and take the first steps on a journey. It was a journey of learning that would bring them to encounter the grace of God in the face of Jesus and at the same time the reality of life in God’s kingdom. It was a journey that they undertook in community. Travelling, worshipping, learning and eating together gathered around Jesus. Ultimately they would go on to tell others of their experience of the life, death and resurrection of Jesus and live out the kingdom in new communities of faith.
In 2010 we will celebrate the 300th anniversary of continuous Anglican worship in the diocese of Nova Scotia and P.E.I. and the 100th anniversary of the Cathedral Church of All Saints. Our theme for this celebration is: “A Journey Just Begun”. Our journey is the same one that those fishermen began so long ago. It is a journey where we are following Jesus: learning, worshipping and serving, ministering in many ways in the communities of the diocese both large and small.
This profile will introduce our diocese and provide a picture of us at a moment in time, as we continue on the journey, which in truth has only just begun.
In Christ’s service
The Rt. Rev. Ron Cutler
Suffragan Bishop
