Youth

Over the years there has been varying diocesan-wide gatherings for youth. Many active lay and clergy adults in our diocese have said that attendance at a youth gathering or two is
what sealed their continued activity within the parishes of our diocese.

In recent years our diocese has seen the continued success of two differing gathering events for youth, Teens Encounter Christ (TEC) and Diocesan Youth Conference (DYC). The first TEC weekend was held in our diocese in 1997 after a group of faithful people from our diocese attended a TEC weekend in Newfoundland.

The TEC movement gathers its energy from annual three-day retreat weekends. The retreat has been held annually ever since with 15-20 youth participating each year.

The Diocesan Youth Conference was born out of the perceived need to provide a gathering for youth of our diocese that was different from the TEC movement so that youth who were not attracted to TEC may have a diocesan gathering to attend.

At both of these annual gatherings, a lively band, superb food, inspiring talks, and foolish fun serve as avenues to bring the message of God's nconditional love to our teens and young adults.
