TEC
General InformationTeens Encounter Christ is a live andgrowing aspect of youth ministry within our diocese. Over 250 young people have attended TEC weekends in the Diocese over the last nine years. The TEC Movement gathers its energy from annual three-day retreat weekends. Weekends are staffed with a trained team of people
who give of their time and talents to volunteer for this special youth ministry. TEC weekends are Christ-centered and are grounded in Anglican tradition and doctrine. A lively band, superb food, inspiring talks and foolish fun serve as avenues to bring the message of God’s unconditional love to young adults. Teens attending the weekend are encouraged to examine their relationship with Christ, to be renewed by the "new life" Christ offers to all through His death on the cross, and to return to their communities living life as "Children of the Light."
The TEC weekend offers a non-threatening environment in which to grow, to share with fellow Christians, and to develop friendships. The week-end is open to all youth (of any Christian denomination) between the ages of 16 and 21.
Young people attending TEC weekends are encouraged to become involved in their own parishes, schools, communities and Diocese. Many "TECIES" now serve as youth group leaders, Sunday School Teachers, community volunteers, members of the Youth Ministries Sub- committee for the Diocese, and Diocesan Council to name a few. TECIES are also encouraged to keep in contact with one another after TEC weekends.
