 GREETINGS!

Welcome to the profile of the Diocese of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island.  In this web site, we invite you to visit us and our parishes and our ministries.

We would like to tell you our story:  the story of our arrival on the shores of Nova Scotia 300 years ago, a few of the notable events, which shaped our history, what we are doing now, and what we hope to do.

Scroll through—you will find photos of beautiful churches, happy youth, worshipping congregations.  We also invite you to check out some of our stories:  the return of the Vinegar Bible, how we brought PWRDF into the Canadian church, the “Round Church”, Anglican Sisters in Springhill, the “Maroons”, Harris churches

Fort AnneThis is a year of celebration for us—300 years of continuous Anglican worship.  All over the provinces of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island Anglican churches will be sponsoring events to commemorate our past and to celebrate our future.

Our theme is “A Journey Just Begun” (from hymn no.656 in Common Praise.  You will see phrases from the hymn throughout the website.  You can find the words of the hymn on this page.

“Many were the dreamers whose eyes were given sight when the Spirit filled their dreams with life and form”

A very warm welcome to delegates and guests from all over the country.

General Synod will be meeting here in June 2010 (June 3-11)         and will be worshipping with us at a celebratory Eucharist in Exhibition Park, near Halifax.

We hope this profile of our Diocese will help you  feel like you have met us before—or that it will fill in some of the gaps you may have in what you know about us and what we’re doing as we journey ahead.

Are you thinking about doing some visiting while you’re here?  We love to show off our two beautiful provinces.  Here are the two Department of Tourism websites,Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island.
