ORGANIZED WITHIN OUR CHURCH ARE THE FOLLOWING:
Sunday School:
Of great enjoyment and of great importance is Christian Education. At the present time we are trying to re-establish the Sunday School for children aged four and upwards which would be conducted at the same time as the Sunday service. We are presently in search of a Co-coordinator of Christian Education. Please feel free to give the church a call if you would like to participate or to enroll your child.
The Ladies Guild:
The focus of this dedicated group of women is to enhance fellowship and spirituality within the church as well as raise money to help support and enhance the church. Each year, the guild sponsors a supper, an art show and sale, a yard sale and much more. The Ladies’ Guild is always open to new members. Anyone interested is encouraged to call Anne Powell at 477-4542.
Greeters:
This is a group of people who welcome people to the church on Sunday and assist anyone who need help gaining access. If you would like to help, please contact Susan Campbell at 477-7446.
Choir:
The Saint Augustine’s Chancel Choir operates under the leadership of Elizabeth Cameron, our organist. The Choir, which meets each Sunday prior to the 10:00 a.m. service for practice, presently consists of six sopranos and altos. The choir supports regular Sunday services and sings anthems written for two and three part treble voices on special occasions. We would welcome more voices, male or female, to augment our numbers."
Readers:
St. Augustine’s is very fortunate to have a good number of faithful readers who read the scripture readings at the service on Sunday mornings. They range in age from around 12 years to senior citizens. New readers are always welcome. Please contact Dr. Greg Booth at 477-5803 if you are interested in being a reader.
Parish Magazine:
Once a month an informative Parish magazine is published telling of service times, special events, meeting times, information and news. If you would like to receive this magazine, please call one of the wardens or call the church.
Coffee Hour:
On the last Sunday of each month immediately following the service we have a coffee hour. It is a time for fellowship and getting to know one another over a cup of tea/coffee with light refreshments. (Cookies and juice are provided for the children.) Coffee hour is hosted in alternate months by the Ladies Guild and the Men’s Club.

A Brief History of
St. Augustine’s Jollimore
In May 1958, St. Augustine’s was the little stone church at the Dingle. In addition, on Parkhill Road was the Rectory and next door to that the church hall which is now the Pond Playhouse. At this time, Rev. T.R.B. Anderson was the Rector and felt the little church was too small and that a new and larger church was needed.
Mrs. G.M. Hope deeded St. Augustine’s the land which the church is now situated on and many Parishioners also contributed with donations of substantial sums to provide church furniture and fittings as memorials.
The new church as completed and on Saturday, March 21, 1964 it was dedicated by Bishop W.W. Davis. The little stone church was closed after removing the bell, the front, the altar, and whatever was considered useful in the new church.
The little stone church was eventually sold to the city of Halifax and still exists today.
The new St. Augustine’s thrives today as an active community-minded church and a bright and happy place to worship God
