World Day For Peace

September 21 is World Day for Peace. Around the world, people of many different faiths and people of no religious affiliation will focus on peace. Please encourage your members to join this focus on peace in some way that makes sense in your community. The World Council of Churches has requested its members observe September 21 to 26 as a “Week of Prayer for Peace with Justice for all Peoples in the Holy Land”, to pray for more than the absence of war. May we, with people of faith across the Church and around the world, offer prayers of thanksgiving for the ceasefire between Israel and Palestine. Weeks of fear, violence and destruction have devastated lives, land, homes and hope.

As we look at the 47 years of violence and oppression in that land, we are reminded of Jeremiah’s lament that : “They dress the wound of my people as though it were not serious.

‘Peace, peace’, they say, ‘when there is no peace’”.

There are prayers for peace in both the BCP and the BAS and some additional resources at the WCC site and

As well, please raise awareness of the Anglican emergency relief fund for Gaza and encourage people to donate. Here is a link to the PWRDF.

Under “You can select to apply your donation to a specific fund set up by this charity,” choose number 3, and specific funds donated to this account will go to GAZA.

Thank you for your consideration of this request.
