What Do We Seek?
Say What You Think About Finances and Ministry in our Diocese
How should we use money?
Last June, Diocesan Council discussed allotment rate and other financial factors, and made cuts of about $100,000 in ministry from the 2010 diocesan budget.
Council has asked for input from Anglicans all over the Diocese before thinking about budgets and ministry for 2011 and beyond.
Your opportunity to have a say as an active Anglican comes in the form of a survey. You can comment on the importance of the various central ministries, and offer suggestions. Your Rector or Priest-in-Charge will have copies, or print one out here: [pdf] [Word].
The deadline is December 31st, 2009.

Fall Harvest
October in Atlantic Canada means harvesting corn, potatoes, carrots and squash, picking apples and pumpkins and viewing the changing colors associated with the fall season. A drive through just about any rural road in Prince Edward Island or the Annapolis Valley in Nova Scotia to see the pumpkin people, pick apples or walk through a pumpkin patch remind us of a bountiful harvest. They also remind us that our God is a God of abundance, not a God of scarcity. We offer our prayers for good weather and adequate rainfall so that the fields and gardens may be fruitful, yield their increase and provide food for all of God’s creatures.
We should also pray that we may be good stewards of God’s bounty so that it is distributed in such a way that all God’s creatures are cared for and fed. A common table grace goes like this: “Come, Lord Jesus, be our Guest and let these gifts to us be blest.”
God is good and His goodness is seen in many ways and during the fall season it is seen in the bounty that the earth produces. May we be good stewards of that bounty and all the other gifts of time, talent and treasure that God entrusts to us to manage according to His purposes for the benefit of all His creatures!
