A VERY SPECIAL 2010 CALENDAR
The Anglican Church Women of Nova Scotia will have for sale a very special 2010 Church Calendar, celebrating the 300th Anniversary of continuous Anglican worship in our Diocese. As it will feature pictures of 12 churches in our Diocese, it is anticipated that it will be a keepsake item. The calendar is produced by the 2010 Committee as part of the 2010 celebrations.
For groups wishing to sell these 2010 Church Calendars as a fund raising project in their parish, now is the time to place an order. For more information please contact the ACW Calendar Chairperson, Anna Langille, at (902) 423-8697, or write to Anna at the ACW Room, Diocesan Centre, 5732 College Street, Halifax, NS B3H 1X3. Order forms were distributed at the Annual Meeting and are also included in the Summer issue of the ACW Newsletter, "Keeping In Touch....". Please get your order with payment in to the office early because Anna believes they will go very quickly. There will be a limited printing, and once they are gone, they’re gone! (It is expected that for 2011 the ACW will once again be offering "The Canadian Church Calendar" as they have done in previous years.)
Thank you to everyone who last year delivered the church calendars to branches and drop-off areas across Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. Hand Delivery is the best way to go! Mailing is very costly and postage seems to always be going up.

Stewardship is not a Spectator Sport!
A coach was asked what role spectator sports played in the physical fitness of a nation. He responded: None. What you have at a game is 22 football players exercising but needing rest, and 55,000 spectators resting but needing exercise. All too often that accurately describes how it is in the church. A few people do the work while the rest watch and express their satisfaction or dissatisfaction. St. Paul says it ought not be that way in the church, the body of Christ! There are no spectators. All of us are called to be participants. God the Holy Spirit gives us gifts so that we might use them to carry out our ministry as a part of the church. Using our God-given gifts properly is what the stewardship life is all about. It is not optional. All God's people are stewards by virtue of their baptism. And all God's people have gifts to be used to build up the body of Christ. God brought us into the church. Christ suffered and died that we sinners might have forgiveness and fellowship with God. He brings the redeemed into His fellowship, the church, but not to be spectators! God calls us to participate, to use our gifts for His purposes. Holy Spirit, thank You for Your gifts to me. Amen

Anglican Journal News: PWRDF accepting donations for Philippines flood victims
MARITES N. SISON
STAFF WRITER
Sep 29, 2009
The Primate's World Relief and Development Fund (PWRDF) is releasing an
initial grant of $15,000 and is accepting donations to help tens of
thousands of families who were affected by a devastating tropical storm
that flooded 80 per cent of the Philippines' capital, Metro Manila, and
its neighbouring areas.
More than 240 people have been reported killed and more than 450,000
driven from their homes after tropical storm Ketsana (locally known as
"Ondoy") dumped a month's worth of rainfall in six hours on Sept. 26,
said Action by Churches Together (ACT) International. ACT is a coalition
of church-based groups that responds to natural disasters and
humanitarian crises, of which PWRDF, the Anglican Church of Canada's
relief and development arm, is a member.
There are fears that the number of victims will rise as a second
tropical cyclone is forming that may affect the same areas that are
still reeling from Ketsana.

| Dreams - God’s Forgotten Language Are you curious about what your dreams may tell you about your spiritual life? This is a love of mine. I am willing to share with your congregation how God has reached out to the great people of scripture through dreams, and how he has continued to do so through the generations to our own time, in our own dreams. Show runs from October 9 to November 27
For gallery hours and further information on this exhibition, please check our web site: www.astheology.ns.ca/astarts/ (Information on the exhibition can be found under Current Exhibitions)
