STEWARDSHIP:
Stewardship Is For Kids!
Many people – teachers and parents alike – might think that stewardship is just for adults. They might object to talking to kids about giving time, talent and treasure to help others. However, stewardship really is for kids, too. Here are a few reasons why:
- God calls all of us to give, no matter how old we are or how much we have to give. In the Gospel story of the Loaves and Fishes, (John 6:1-15) Jesus took the five barley loaves and two fish from a young boy. Jesus did not say, “He is too young to give.”
- Experts agree that if a person does not learn the joy of giving when he or she is young, that person may never be a generous giver. John D. Rockefeller confirmed this, saying, “I never would have been able to tithe the first million dollars I ever made if I had not tithed on my first salary, which was $1.50 a week.” Children can give away a small percentage of allowance, babysitting money or gifts. And they always are very proud when they do.
- Giving helps kids feel good about themselves. Advertising makes kids feel like they are not good enough if they do not have the right clothes, shoes, or gadgets. In contrast, when kids are called to recognize and share their many gifts, then kids really begin to see that they are very blessed and valuable children of God.

SOCIAL JUSTICE:
Check out the “Calendar of Events” at: http://www.localendar.com/public/diocese
I want to join all interested Sunday School teachers across Canada, by e mail.
The idea is : we link to each other by e mail.
We can : share our faith, resources, ideas, joys & occasional frustrations.
( It can be lonely, by yourself, in the basement ! )
Once I have lots of e mail addresses, I will make a simple newsletter and send it to each teacher.
We can introduce ourselves, describe our class, parish & methodologies.
Then, when there is a need, we can post our question or situation and feel we have "virtual" colleagues.
Please forward this note to every Sunday School teacher you know.
They can then write to me, for more information and we can begin . . . sharing & caring.
Thank you !

A message to Anglican churches from Hi-Fi Hymn Book:
I'm writing to introduce you to a new service we're very pleased to provide to Christian churches. Hi-Fi Hymn Book is a non-profit organization that makes high quality pipe organ accompaniment to public domain hymns available at no charge via mp3 downloads from our website http://hifihymnbook.com We've also recently added a Service Music section for amens, doxologies and masses that are suitable for congregational singing.
Missionaries, smaller churches, and even some military chaplains in the field have already taken advantage of our service. In addition to providing older mass settings by composers such as John Merbecke, we're excited to announce that we've just been licensed to record settings by modern American composer Richard Proulx, whose music has been described as "the most performed music in this country, every Sunday throughout the United States."
The site has a fun, fifties theme that's centered on a diner-style jukebox connecting visitors to our ever growing hymn catalog. Response to the launch of the site has been incredibly encouraging, thanks mainly to YouTube viewers who've played over a third of a million of our videos over the past six months, and often check out our site to see what we're all about! You can visit us on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/user/hifihymnbook
Hope you enjoy the site, and we're looking forward to serving your churches soon!
